How this lab reads

We use the sensory bench as a way to explain reliable coffee evaluation. The aim is better questions, clearer observations and fewer claims that outrun the evidence.

01 / APPROACH

Repeatability before mystique

Summitcedarwhrl is an independent information website for specialty-coffee professionals and serious learners. Our guides connect representative sampling, controlled roasting, panel calibration and traceable records. We explain terminology in the context of a practical decision.

We do not operate a sample-testing service through this website. We do not issue official scores, certify coffee, accredit laboratories or claim that a preferred flavour is objectively superior.

02 / SOURCES

Follow the reference

We favour primary resources from standards bodies, research organisations and equipment documentation. Named standards are reference points, not reproduced protocols. Check current official editions before applying a formal method.

We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Specialty Coffee Association, World Coffee Research, ISO, UKAS or any equipment manufacturer mentioned. Brand and product names remain the property of their respective owners.

03 / LIMITS

Keep claims bounded

Our illustrations explain processes; they are not test results. We do not invent laboratory measurements, comparative performance results or tasting credentials. Origin examples identify real places, not guaranteed sensory profiles.

If you find an error, send the page address, the statement in question and a supporting primary source. Prepare an editorial correction note.
